Retail Therapy

It’s been a long, hard 12 days since my brother died.  The day after he passed, we took my parents to the airport to fly to Arizona to be with my sis-in-law.  Today is the first of my allowed bereavement days from work.  So all this time, I’ve been going to work, and trying to hold in my emotions all day.  It’s been exhausting.  In fact, on Monday, I went to bed at 6:30 PM.

Today my daughter and I went shopping.  She needed to find a dress and I needed to pick up a few things for my mom, along with getting some groceries.  We spent quite a bit of time in three different resale shops.  It was a wonderful distraction from the grieving.  My daughter said it was one of those days when all we had to worry about was which dress to buy.  Yes, it was a very nice, and much-needed, distraction from all of the grieving.
