When the flu and colds hit you

Image result for saving money

Whenever we are sick with a cold or the flu, one thing we do to save money is use a roll of toilet paper instead of Kleenexes.  Think about it — when you blow your nose, you may only use 1/2 of the sheet, but you don’t want to save it for later — that’s GROSS!!  So by grabbing a roll of toilet paper, we tear off only what we will need.  If we need more, we tear off more.  This adds up to $$ in my pocket, and that always works for me!!

Very powerful clip!

This is pretty awesome, and it only takes a second!

A Hong Kong movie theater asks its patrons to leave their cell phones ON when they enter the movie.
Using that, Volkswagen made an eye opening ad…

Saving money at the gas pump

I discovered something over the weekend.  I usually buy my gasoline at Speedway.  If you prepay for one of their Speedway fuel-only cards, you will save three cents per gallon at the pump.

Three cents may not seem like much, but over time, the savings will add up!

Cheap Insulated Bag

With summer here, I thought I’d share a cheap tip for making an insulated bag for keeping your drink cold.

Insulated bag:

If you need a quick, inexpensive “insulated” bag, use a brown paper bag and add an inch of folded newspaper to the inside for the insulation.

Inexpensive Address Book

My leather address book is getting quite full.  Many of the names/addresses have lines through them because the information has changed.  I’ve been on the hunt to find another nice address book.  However, I’ve been unsuccessful in finding something I like in an affordable price range.

DD and I headed out to Big Lots a couple of nights ago.  I decided to see what kind of journals they had, and just modify it to be my new address book.  I found EXACTLY what I wanted, and the best part is that it only cost me $3.00!!!!  It looks much like this one, only the pink is a light green.

All I need to do now is find some sticky things with the letters of the alphabet on them that I can insert on the side of the pages to separate it and make it more functional.

My annual OB/Gyn visit and HOT FLASHES relief!!

So I headed out to go for my lovely pap-smear at my OB/Gyn’s office last week.  My doctor is fantastic.  She sat there and talked to me for about 30 minutes before she ever started the actual exam.

Once she was ready for me to get into position for the pap-smear, wouldn’t you know it???  I got a CHARLEY-HORSE in my right leg!!!  Talk about BAD TIMING!!!  (I have to admit — it WAS funny!)

Since I’ve been having at least one hot flash every 30 minutes, she wanted to put me on hormones.  (I had 2 or 3 of them while in her office.)  However, hubby and I weren’t comfortable with that.

I have been taking Menopause Essentials from Swanson Vitamins, but they don’t seem to be working as well as they did when I first started them.  After reading a book on other natural choices, I decided to add evening primrose oil.  So I took 2 of them one night before bed, then took another one the next morning.  The result was IMMEDIATE!!!  I only had ONE hot flash that day!  That is nothing short of AMAZING!!!

It’s been four days now, and I have only had one or two hot flashes a day.
